Jujutsu Kaisen Makes It to Newspapers in Shibuya
Jujutsu Kaisen is celebrating the “Shibuya Incident” arc by giving out limited-edition newspapers in Shibuya, Tokyo, from September 22 to 24.
These special newspapers are part of the anime’s project called “Experience the Shibuya Incident -Giant Prison Realm-,” held at Shibuya Mark City from September 22 to 28. The event is free and features exhibitions. Also, players of the smartphone game Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade have surprises waiting, including a gacha game for limited character cards.
To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, guidelines are provided on the official Jujutsu Kaisen website. The event runs from 11:00 AM (10:00 AM on the 22nd) to 7:00 PM at Shibuya Mark City EAST MALL 1F Mark Event Square.
Jujutsu Kaisen Unveils Blu-ray Illustrations for Hidden Inventory/Premature Death
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will be available on Blu-ray/DVD, with the first two volumes covering the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc. These volumes are scheduled for release in October and November of this year and will include a total of five episodes, focusing on Gojo’s past and friendship with Geto.
Additionally, the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will also cover the Shibuya Incident arc. Studio MAPPA, known for its work on the prequel movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, is handling the animation. The Blu-ray release dates for the Shibuya Arc have been announced, starting from December 29, 2023, and extending through May 22, 2024, covering episodes 30 to 47.
KonoSuba Gets a Short Story Collection To Celebrate 10th Anniversary
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the light novels’ publication, Natsume Akatsuki, the original author of KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!, has penned a fresh collection of short stories. These stories, titled Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! Yori Michi 3 Eme!, will release both physically and digitally on September 29.
The collection includes tales of Megumin growing devil horns, Darkness becoming a villainess, business disputes between Wiz and Vanir, and Kazuma’s diary chronicling his life with Aqua and friends. As of now, there’s no news of an English translation.
Studio Ghibli Acquired by Nippon TV as Subsidiary
Japan’s beloved Studio Ghibli, known for classics like My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away, is becoming part of Nippon TV (NTV). NTV will own the majority of Ghibli shares, aiming to ensure Ghibli’s future as its founders, Toshio Suzuki (75) and Hayao Miyazaki (82), couldn’t find successors. Even Hayao Miyazaki’s son, Goro Miyazaki, declined the studio head role.
The acquisition will allow Ghibli to focus on making movies. NTV promises to support Ghibli’s work and preserve its creative environment. This shift marks the end of an era, and what the future holds for Ghibli under NTV remains uncertain.
The Rascal Does Not Dream Series To Get English Dub in Upcoming Blu-Ray Collection
The Rascal Does Not Dream series will soon have an English dub on its upcoming November Blu-ray release by Aniplex. This collection includes the anime’s first season and the movie Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl. It also features an exclusive booklet and bonus content like opening and ending songs without credits, commercials, trailers, and more.
The Blu-ray is set to release on November 14 this year, available for pre-order at $127.98. Please note that due to licensing restrictions, it can only be sold and shipped to the US, Canada, South America, and Central America. The English dub cast for the series is yet to be announced.
Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead Episode 9 To Stream a Day Later
The streaming of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’s upcoming episode 9 is delayed by one day, now on September 25. Previous episodes also faced delays, affecting both Japanese and overseas streaming services. However, the episode will air as planned on September 24.
Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead is a VIZ Media co-production with several partners, including Shogakukan and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions Japan. VIZ Media handles the anime in North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand. Production challenges have led to multiple delays, and the final three episodes lack a release date for this season. BUG FILMS, a relatively new studio, is responsible for the animation. The anime, which began airing in July, saw studio SHAFT briefly assisting before withdrawing from the project. The team comprises Director Kazuki Kawagoe, Assistant Director Hanako Ueda, Series Composition by Hiroshi Seko, Character Design by Kii Tanaka, Zombie Design by Junpei Fukuchi, Music by Makoto Miyazaki, Music Selection by Maiko Gouda, and Sound Production by dugout. Crunchyroll is one of the platforms streaming the anime, which is based on the manga by Haro Aso and Kotaro Takata.

Jujutsu Kaisen mangaka Gege Akutami gets death threats and hate comments for killing off Gojo
In the latest chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, fans were left heartbroken by the sudden death of Satoru Gojo. The manga’s author, Gege Akutami, triggered mixed emotions among readers with this unexpected twist.
The much-anticipated battle between Gojo and Sukuna had been a series highlight. Chapter 235 ended with Gojo’s apparent victory, but chapter 236 revealed his untimely demise, leading to shock and disappointment among fans. Some felt Gojo deserved a different fate due to his central role and popularity in the series, leaving readers feeling a sense of betrayal.
Akutami’s storytelling decisions, while generating passionate responses, also raise concerns about the toll on creators. As Jujutsu Kaisen fans process this unexpected turn, they await future chapters with anticipation and uncertainty, hoping for a resolution that honors Satoru Gojo’s legacy in the beloved manga.
Jamie Lee Curtis declares intent to lobby for role in Netflix’s One Piece as Dr. Kureha
Iconic actress Jamie Lee Curtis, known for roles in “Halloween” and “Knives Out,” is eager to join Netflix’s “One Piece” adaptation. Curtis, a devoted “One Piece” fan, has expressed her interest in playing the role of Dr. Kureha, Tony Tony Chopper’s mentor.
Curtis, who’s been a fan of “One Piece” for years, confirmed her desire to join the cast in a recent statement. She explained that her commitment to lobbying for the role would follow the resolution of labor disputes, saying, “ONCE the STRIKE against the greed of the AMTPT is SETTLED with a FAIR CONTRACT, I will lobby along with the growing fan frenzy to become Doctor Kureha.”
Dr. Kureha is a pivotal character in Tony Tony Chopper’s journey and will likely have a significant role in the upcoming season. Jamie Lee Curtis’s potential involvement adds star power to the adaptation, making her dream role in “One Piece” a reality. As fans eagerly await further developments, her passion for the series promises an exciting addition to the live-action adaptation.
The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season Anime Dub Getting Simultaneous Release
Anime often becomes available internationally on the same day as its Japanese debut, albeit with subtitles initially. Dubbed versions usually arrive later. However, season two of “The Eminence in Shadow” breaks this norm. HIDIVE will release its dub on October 4, coinciding with the anime’s premiere.
The returning dub cast includes familiar voices like Adam Gibbs as Cid Kageno/Shadow and Christina Kelly as Alpha. “The Eminence in Shadow” follows Cid, who prefers working behind the scenes, leading the underground Shadow Garden against a cult he originally fabricated. Surprisingly, this cult turns out to be real, challenging Cid’s power fantasy.
