The second arc of the Final saga sets off in My Hero Academia Season 7 with an intense moment of action where the last season left off. It showcases a little of the previous events that brought to this moment and the titular characters. Then the main event start with the battle between Star and Stripe and All for One possessed Tomura Shigaraki.
My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 1 First Impressions
First, the animation is quite alright. Even though I think that the action can be improved in this series as a whole, the calculated and subtle fight scenes are appreciated. The asthetic and visuals can be improved too in order to appear more intense and fierce. That incident with a BONES‘ animator of rejecting their animation in season 5 still makes me salty since that piece of animation was really cool. I don’t know how the studio envisions this series to be but I wish they could do a bit more to elevate certain moments.
Next the episode, titled “In the Nick of Time! A Big-Time Maverick from the West!”. It starts off with a little recap from Deku, which still felt a bit odd since 4 recap episodes were aired prior to the start of this season. Then we see the main villain All for One ploting and anticipating the arrival of Star and Stripe, the top hero from America inside a cave. That cave bit is a bit goofy that the evil-deors are always tacking inside some random cave.
After that, the titular hero makes her way to Japan in the most flamboyant way I’ve ever seen. Wish the studio could capture the sheer machoness in that moment. It’s just bland seeing her coming up with a bunch of stealth planes. Next, the fight with All for One possessed Tomura Shigaraki starts and a lot of exposition happens, which I hope don’t return. Star and Stripe aka Cassie, her quirk is amazing and interesting as the manga fans hyped up. It’s something even the big baddy fears and wants. I wonder why Almight didn’t pass on One for All to her, it would’ve been perfect.
My Hero Academia Season 7 Opening & Ending
The opening theme For Someone’s Sake by TK from Ling Tosite Sigure (known for Tokyo Ghoul Opening Unravel) is an interesting song that fits well in with the visuals. The OP forshadows some new characters and some recurring ones as well. And it shows that Deku will be fighting alongside his classmates instead of going off alone. The ending theme Flower Bud by Omoinotake is great too. The visuals however kind of spoiled a bit and showed off which characters will be taking the center stage in this season. Some underrated characters will comeforth and take the spotlight.
Some Information about My Hero Academia Season 7
My Hero Academia Season 7 is covering the Star and Stripe Arc which is from the manga chapters 329 – 334. It’s regarded as the 2nd arc in the Final Saga which is unofficially titled since there aren’t any official ones. Then it’ll cover the U.A. Traitor Arc (chapters 335–342).
Conclusion
We’re hyped as usual for this season as well. My Hero Academia has become the shounen for the new gens. While I think some moments are mid and there are much room for improvement, I still like what I am getting from this series. It’s upto the studio to deliver what’s to come. I don’t wanna hope too much this time since things go south whenever there’s a hype. I’ll just keep an eye on and watch casually.
