Parenting is pretty hard these days. When kids start spreading their wings and living independently, it pours worry into the parents’ minds. Who knows what trouble they get into, what sort of company they keep, which place they crash into, and so on. Choices like these can bring suffering in the long run. Tetsuo Tosu, a salaryman’s daughter Reika started dating a yakuza guy, who is mentally mentally sick and physically & mentally abusive. Upon knowing this, Tetsuo goes to check his daughter’s apartment only to find out that the yakuza guy exports money from women and then silences them for good. This time he’s after Reika to get the wealth from her grandparents’ inheritance and then will make her disappear. Tetsuo doesn’t accept that and does the unthinkable. This reminds me how far a parent can go to protect their children.
The Rising Tension
What “My Home Hero” anime does best is it keeps raising the bar every episode. Tetsuo did what had to be done, they the plot throws in his wife into the mix. They both decided to stay strong do what needed to be done to battle the impending danger. Trouble only brings more trouble. As a mystery, thriller, and detective story fan, Tetsuo has this amazing way of thinking his way around. The way he and his wife, Kasen keep their composure is almost inhumane. But it pays off when the time comes. They keep doing things that are something even the yakuza wouldn’t think of doing. It’s just gruesome.
The yakuza is now after them suspecting they might know about their member’s disappearance. But they can’t come clean for the sake of their daughter. Eventually, things turned out unexpectedly and led them to sleep with their enemies. And it keeps getting more suspenseful when a yakuza member runs into Tetsuo’s daughter. I honestly can’t catch a break with this show when it keeps on developing like this and keeping me on my toes.
About “My Home Hero”
“My Home Hero” is a manga series written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Masashi Asaki, started in May 2017. It was adapted into anime by the studio Tezuka Productions in Spring 2023. 8 episodes have aired so far and 12 episodes are settled for this season. It has some gruesome and mature themes, so some of the ideas may not be for the lighthearted ones. But if you can handle such violence, then it’s certainly worth it for the suspense and drama.
