Summer has started, and we’re kicking off with first impressions of My Wife Has No Emotion, an anime about a regular office dude living with a robot that handles household chores, such as cooking, cleaning, as well as taking care of its owner’s well-being. But the guy gets messed up thoughts about the robot he bought from a mysterious seller and fantasizes about her.
Synopsis
Takuma is a single guy who does nothing but go to work and come home. Too tired to do chores, he decides to get a robot to cook and keep house. Mina-chan is such a good housekeeper that Takuma jokes she should become his wife. Mina takes Takuma’s joke seriously, and slowly the two start doing more things together, like having a picnic outside. As time goes by, Takuma starts to fall for Mina, but can a human and a robot ever have an equal, loving relationship?
First Impressions
So, the housekeeping robot is a “she” named “Mina-chan“. Takuma, the main character who is essentially a loner and has had no luck with women before, playfully treats Mina as if she were his wife. Initially referring to her as a household appliance, he eventually asks her if she would be his wife. Mina, being quite intelligent, responds by asking him what couples typically do, teasing him in the process. She knows her job and place well and acts efficiently.
This mature comedy is enjoyable if you’re into that sort of thing. Although, the best part is how wholesome it feels and the wacky comedy that the housekeeping robot brings with the robot-human dynamic. Mina often acts as Takuma’s nani, straightening out his bad habbits, cooking balanced diet, all sorts of things to improve the home life. It’s only the first episode, so more elements are expected to be introduced, such as the upcoming episode where they will go out.
In terms of production quality, it’s fine. The visuals are crisp and vibrant, setting the atmospheric vibe perfectly for various scenes, while the music enhances every moment. Nothing feels out of place or rushed. Konomi Inagaki‘s emotionless voice particularly nails the characters perfectly. It’s not a high budget anime by any means but it’s a clear example that to make sometime nice, you only need creativity and clever ideas.
The opening and ending themes are pretty enjoyable, featuring the songs ‘Okaerinasai’ (Welcome Back) by ‘VTuber Sora’ Tokino and ‘Wave’ by ‘Miisha Shimizu’, respectively.

After Thought
I supposse this anime is kind of a guilty pleasure, seeing how a relation between a loner and a housekeeping robot plays out. I really hope nothing suspicious happens that will make me regret watching this. Overall, I like this anime; it’s fun, comedic, wholesome and want to see where this goes. The next episode will air in July 9 as it’s airing weekly.
