Toei Animation has officially confirmed a new Dragon Ball anime at the recent New York Comic Con event held yesterday. Amidst speculations and leaks, fans were confused about the franchise’s future, particularly in adapting the latest manga chapters. The long-awaited announcement was made, unveiling the anime’s return along with an exciting new trailer. The series is set to premiere in Fall 2024, just a year away from now. Let’s dive into the trailer and see what’s in store!
Dragon Ball DAIMA Trailer Analysis
Now, let’s take a closer look at the trailer. In the past, the anime had some caveats, but they managed to redeem themselves, as I discussed in detail here. This one boasts top-notch production quality right from the beginning since they have had more time to work on it. Its CGI is akin to “Dragon Ball Super Movie – Super Hero,” even though it cost more than traditional hand-drawn animation. IDK, may it’s easier for them. The trailer is quite self-explanatory: the story will explore the uncharted concept of magic, bringing all characters onto a balanced field, and possibly reintroducing some non-canon characters to fit into the narrative. Alternatively, they might be introducing new characters, as seen in the trailer.

The timeline is either set right before the “End of Z” or in between the current manga arcs. We lack any information about Beerus, Broly, Frieza, or any other characters from Super’s continuity as no hints have been provided. This story stands as a completely new narrative detached from the other arcs and is exclusive to the anime. Hence, we won’t have clarity until it actually begins. If Akira Toriyama is indeed involved, as they claim, we can undoubtedly expect a compelling story.
