Near the end of 19th century Japan, Meiji year 30, poverty and superstition took over the lower-class population along with the western influence. In the midst of that, supernatural beings such as monsters, undead, demons exist. Some are more apparent and some are rare. Some are captured to get thrown into the ring and their lives hang on to the gambling of the greedy. There Tsugaru Shinuchi, a half human half demon trying to make a living by beating the lives out of captured monsters.
The Appeal of Undead Girl Murder Farce
The visuals look good. It’s grim and gray, depicting the dark times that era faced. The animation looks okay and the fight scenes are pretty well made. The talking scenes are mixed with some good editing and shot composition that shows where the characters stand in a metaphorical way. It’s fun to see they try to make expository scenes not boring like that and it kind of feels poetic. Aside from that, the plot is interesting. An undead girl named Aya Rindo comes to Tsugaru to strike a deal. Her body is stolen, left with head and the only way she sees now is death. Since Tsugaru possess demon blood in him, he can take her undead life and in turn she can extend his lifespan since having demon blood inside human can make one lose their humanity and turn berserk. But Tsugaru doesn’t seem to be interested in living long. He loves a good fight and wants to go down tearing apart everything including the gambling arena. He has suffered long enough to see how unfair the world is and don’t care much about living. So, he just wastes his days goofing around and drinking. But upon hearing Aya’s story, he offers to get her body back since both of their story align in a way. that leads them to Europe and that’s how myths from two locations meet.

Conclusion
Undead Girl Murder Farce certainly has its distinct charm to it. The plot is interesting and characters are entertaining. The Opening and Ending sequences are pretty stylish. But a few things feel like they are missing that makes you excited to that extend. IDK, maybe it’s just my take on this. Watch it and let us know your thoughts.
