Here we are with the fantasy anime of the season, Secrets of the Silent Witch, which also happens to be a witch anime we discussed earlier from the previous season. And this anime looks as beautiful as it is intriguing.
Silent Witch First Impressions

The first episode serves primarily as a character introduction, with a sprinkle of world-building. There are Seven Sages—the most powerful mages—and our main character, Monica Everett, is one of them. She’s the youngest sage in history and can cast spells without any incantation. How? Because she’s a shy introvert who struggles with social interaction, she developed a completely new way to manipulate mana—something no one has ever seen before. That’s why she’s known as the Silent Witch.
For a show with “silent” in the title, there’s a lot of talking. From the opening moments introducing the MC to pushing the plot forward, everything relies heavily on dialogue. That’s not a bad thing—especially for a series that isn’t primarily battle-oriented. Dialogue is essential here, and it’s used effectively. I loved the playfulness and the well-timed comedy. There are twists and turns I genuinely didn’t see coming.

I also liked how the episode was structured. It opens with an intense scene, then jumps forward in time to introduce the MC and the world before tying everything back to that earlier moment. It’s a simple but effective storytelling method that kept me engaged throughout.
The characters are fun and engaging, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.
The Animation and Sound
The visuals are surreal, with vibrant, atmospheric backgrounds. There’s a brief action scene where the Silent Witch takes down a dragon, and it’s well executed—supported by impressive animation and a fantastic musical score.
The opening song, “Feel” by Hitsujibungaku, plays at the end of episode one. The ending theme, “mild days,” is also performed by the same artist and will likely appear in later episodes.

One aspect that stands out is Monica’s relatability as a socially anxious protagonist. Unlike the typical overpowered lead who flaunts their abilities, Monica wants to hide hers due to her shyness—making her journey more grounded despite the fantasy setting. This contrast between her internal struggles and external capabilities is what makes the show refreshing. Additionally, the political intrigue hinted at in the plot, with noble families, magical institutions, and hidden agendas, could offer a richer narrative later on. If the story continues balancing emotional character moments with light magic mystery, Secrets of the Silent Witch could quietly become a fan-favorite.
