One year ago, the most awaited anime of the modern age was unleashed, exuding nothing but coolness. It’s a simple anime with a straightforward story about a guy becoming incredibly strong after a near-death experience. It’s a classic tale of a 180-degree turn—from zero to hero, lame to legendary. And now, Solo Leveling Season 2 back as if it never left.
Solo Leveling Season 2 First Impressions
Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 1 picks up a few days after the events of Season 1, with the MC, Sung Jin-woo, waking up in his bed, fully recovered from his intense battle. After a brief slice-of-life moment, he heads out on an expedition, initially just to observe. But, as always, things don’t go smoothly—because plot, and also to show off the MC’s overwhelming rizz. Meanwhile, the narrative begins setting up something bigger on the horizon.

The animation remains top-notch, with fight scenes that are beautifully choreographed and packed with a stylistic flair to keep you on the edge of your seat. The in-between moments, like exposition, are serviceable, with characters explaining the world, enemy types, guilds, and more. While not groundbreaking, these moments don’t drag thanks to the energy of the action sequences.
The music is exactly what you’d expect from an action-packed show, perfectly complementing the over-the-top battles. Beyond that, there’s not much else to note on the sound design.
The opening and ending themes are delightful. However, they are identical to those from the previous season. The OP hooks you with its hype-filled music, while the ED offers a mellow wind-down after the mind-blowing badassery of the episode.
Afterthought
With all this, it’s clear this season is shaping up to be epic. Despite its simplicity, as long as the anime delivers on its promises, it might just earn the title of “peak.” Many decent stories suffer from poor adaptation or lackluster execution, but Solo Leveling thrives on the rule of cool—and it owns it unapologetically.
