About BanG Dream!
BanG Dream! is a Japanese music media franchise owned by Bushiroad. Created by Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani in January 2015 with an original story by Kō Nakamura, the project began as a manga and later expanded into various other media. Beyond manga, BanG Dream! includes an anime television series, live concerts, singles and albums, VTubers, and the mobile rhythm game BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! by Craft Egg.
The franchise revolves around all-female bands, whose members also serve as voice actresses for the anime and mobile game. As of 2025, the project features ten groups, with seven of them playing their respective instruments, and eight appearing in the mobile game. The first band, Poppin’Party, was formed in February 2015, and additional groups were introduced in 2017 with the launch of the mobile game: Roselia, Afterglow, Pastel Palettes, and Hello, Happy World!. In 2018, a backup band named The Third was renamed Raise A Suilen and joined the series, followed by Morfonica in 2020. In 2022, the franchise expanded further with MyGO!!!!!, Ave Mujica, and Mugendai Mewtype. For live performances, the voice actresses of Poppin’Party, Roselia, Raise A Suilen, Morfonica, MyGO!!!!!, Ave Mujica, and Mugendai Mewtype perform their own music, while the other groups are limited to vocals.
