About Medalist
Medalist is a Japanese manga series created by Tsurumaikada. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon seinen magazine since May 2020, with its chapters compiled into twelve tankōbon volumes as of January 2025. The manga is licensed for English release by Kodansha USA in North America. An anime television adaptation produced by ENGI aired from January to March 2025 with 12 episodes, and a second season has been confirmed.
The story follows Inori Yuitsuka, an 11-year-old fifth grader, aspires to become a world-class figure skater. Despite practicing in secret at her local ice rink, many of her peers are considered “too old” to start serious training at her age. Additionally, after her older sister’s failed skating career, her mother is reluctant to let Inori pursue the same path. However, a chance encounter introduces her to Tsukasa Akeuraji, a former ice dancer on the verge of quitting competitive skating, who agrees to coach her and help her achieve her dreams. As those around her discover her incredible natural talent, the two work together toward Inori’s ultimate goal: winning an Olympic gold medal.
