About Blue Miburo
The Blue Wolves of Mibu (Ao no Miburo) is a Japanese manga series created by Tsuyoshi Yasuda. It began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in October 2021. The first part concluded in April 2024, and the second part, titled Shinsengumi Arc, started in the same month.
An anime adaptation, produced by Maho Film and marketed in English as Blue Miburo, aired from October 2024 to March 2025. A second season has been confirmed.
Set in 1863 Kyoto, the story follows Chirinu Nio, a gentle and caring boy who is deeply devoted to his family. However, he secretly harbors a burning desire for justice. His turbulent youth, referred to as his “blue spring,” begins when he encounters Hijikata Toshizō and Okita Sōji of the Miburo, a group of despised rōnin. Inspired by their pure and genuine ambition to change the world, Nio decides to join the Miburo—a band of dangerous swordsmen who would later become the Shinsengumi.
