Well, real world is really harsh and cruel. Even though we try to make the most of it, some of us eventually breakdown and wish the world would’ve just ended, such a life of a corporate zombie. But that’s what happens in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead.

The Happiest Day of Your Life
No need for isekai this time to transport an overworking bloke to a fantasy world to live out his harem because the fantasy happens in the real world. Akira Tendou’s vision of perfect workplace goes down the drain after his initiation. Workers pulling all-nighters everyday, barely getting to eat or sleep or shower, getting yelled at by trashy superiors who don’t even work, some broad getting privileges through the backdoor, some call it quits due to health issue & you have to pick up their slack thus more work, you can barely make it home & sleep under the table, your room gets filthy, your body gets filthy and everything you knew until now feels like a lie. The life of an average office clerk is the life of a zombie. There’s nothing in life that you can genuinely enjoy after going through all these and wish the world was destroyed. And when that actually happened, that would be the best day of your life.
Upon the realization that Akira doesn’t have to go to work anymore, his life becomes full of everything he was deprived off. Everything was turning black & white as Akira’s life was going then the only colorful thing you see are the spilled-out guts and blood. Slowly the whole world becomes colorful and fun He goes in to propose to his crush even though she’s a hoe, meets his boss then shouts he quits like we all want to, then proceeds so than he doesn’t have any regrets. And then he makes his bucket list, things he wants to do before kicking the bucket himself and venture into the chaos.

What if it’s all a dream?
The episode starts with amazing cinematography with eye-catching effects and sounds but that’s all a zombie movie is playing on the TV in front of Akira. He then wishes that everything turned into zombie apocalypse and passes out. What if he finally went insane and everything is inside his head? I can’t help but feel this eeriness and they might just hit you with such plot twist at the end. It isn’t too farfetched. It’s still a fan theory from someone who hasn’t read the manga.
After Thought
This is definitely a must watch this season. It’s not just the premise but the art, animation, storyboarding, music, everything is to the point. It’s fun, nasty, mature, and yet beautiful. Even the blood is depicted as buckets of paint splashed around. It also gave node to Akira’s trivial attribute which is he used to play rugby. The studio BUG FILMS is new, but the staff at there know what they’re doing. It’s also thanks to the manga which is by Haro Aso. The anime is on Muse Asia YouTube channel so it’s pretty accessible. Give it a watch and you won’t regret it!
