The wait is finally over! One of the most anticipated and top contenders for AOTY, DanDaDan Season 2 has finally started—and it’s as wild as ever.
First Impression

What can I say? It’s really great. It picks up right where it left off in Season 1. It’s back as if it never left, and that’s what I love about it. It gets straight to the point without any useless recap.
As a first-timer enjoying DanDaDan, I’d say the anime is keeping the pace very well. There’s no rushing or dragging. It’s telling the story just right with expressive animation and a strong accompanying soundtrack. Jumping into this blind, I could already tell that this arc—the Evil Eye arc—is going to be huge. The setup and stakes feel really high, with layered mystery and supernatural phenomena unfolding. There’s a lot to uncover as the season progresses, and I can’t wait any longer. As always, beyond the chaotic madness, there’s emotional depth in DanDaDan, and this arc might not be so different.

Afterthought
This season wastes no time and jumps right into the madness that DanDaDan is known for—and it’s epic. The next episode will reveal the real threat, and the arc after this will feature the school festival, so there’s something to look forward to. After that, an even bigger arc is coming. It just keeps escalating—and we morbidly welcome it.

What makes DanDaDan so exciting to watch isn’t just the flashy fights or unpredictable supernatural events—it’s how it balances the absurd with genuine emotional moments. The characters aren’t just reacting to chaos for the sake of it; they’re growing through it. In Season 2, this becomes even more evident. Momo, Okarun, and the rest of the cast are dealing with personal struggles that mirror the external threats they face. Their bonds continue to evolve, and with the Evil Eye arc kicking off, we’re already seeing how high the emotional stakes are.
The visual direction this season is just as sharp, if not sharper. Studio Science SARU is pushing the envelope with exaggerated animation styles, kinetic fight scenes, and surreal designs that perfectly complement the weird, otherworldly events. There’s a freedom to how this anime is made—it’s unafraid to be bizarre or comedic even in serious moments, which somehow makes it more immersive. And once the horror elements kick in, you really feel the tension.
The lore of DanDaDan is also becoming more layered. What started as a quirky story about aliens and spirits is quickly evolving into a deeper narrative involving curses, urban legends, yokai, and possibly other dimensions. Season 2 teases more about the Evil Eye’s origins and hints at greater forces in play—things that go far beyond just school shenanigans.
And let’s not forget the character designs and voice acting, which are absolutely on point. The energy of the cast carries the comedy and emotion equally well. With every episode, the stakes rise but so does our investment in these characters.
Simply put, Season 2 doesn’t just continue the story—it levels it up. If it keeps this momentum, DanDaDan won’t just be a contender for AOTY—it might become one of the defining anime of the decade.
