I don't understand this romance anime

One of our recommended anime of this season, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, has started airing. After watching, it was just head-scratching to figure out what this anime is really about.

The show is trying to sell the idea that a Russian high school girl is cute and lovable just because she sometimes blurts out her true feelings in Russian. The episode starts with her walking into school, and some jackass stops her, asking her out in the most annoying way possible.

She turns him down, and it seemed like the most impressive thing ever to everyone there who watched that happen. But her beauty doesn't faze the MC, and he and she are pretty good friends from the get-go.

They supposedly have a history. Despite her talking in Russian, the MC understands everything she says but pretends he doesn't know. There are some other side characters who are just there, being the typical side characters. I just don't see the point of such a premise.

They clearly like each other but don't know how to confess, and the whole show is going to drag out the entirety of the anime with some ecchi and drama sprinkled around.

The comedy aspect isn't even... IDK what to say—it's the same typical cut-and-dry stuff we've seen in almost every school romance anime. It's ironic how dumb and cringy it feels.

That's about it. I just wanted to share my thoughts about this anime. Let us know what you think. See ya.
